The Skath

THE SKATH

The Skath are hyena-like creatures that make their home in the Azunite Desert. They can parrot Human speech, but they are much more like animal than men. They have some magical skill, are capable of rudimentary weaponsmithing (unlike other tool-using desert creatures, they refuse to steal and use weapons of Human make), they are generally peacefu.
The Skath belive that they were created by the ancient Azunites to guard their buried treasures.
Their religious fervor makes them quite dangerous to treasure hunters - the Skath have been known to attack without warning those whose search for buried riches leads them too far into the mountains.
Of course, any regiment worth its mettle will be able to prevent treasure hunters form entering its territory
One quality that make the Skath more formidable than other desert creatures is that they have learned to domesticate other animals. One species of desert cat is found only in the company of Skath, and has thus become known as the Skath Cat. The Skath Cats are bloodthirsty, dangerous animal, and should be avoided wheever possible.
